Hi there! My name is Alexandria Cosgrove and I am currently a Junior at Arizona State University pursuing a major in digital marketing and a minor in fashion.
EMAIL ME!I grew up in a small town in northern Virginia. In high school I took many marketing courses and was in business clubs like DECA and Key Club, which lead to my love for marketing and advertising and ultimately deciding on a marketing major.
Many of my friends attend Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, VA, where the arts program is huge. While visiting them I was given so much inspiration and muses from this city, my love for fashion really started to blossom. Shortly after this, my brother moved to New York City, and visiting him there further sparked inspiration leading to my decision to start pursuing fashion.
Marketing & Fashion: My freshman year of college (2021), I joined the Alpha Phi sorority at ASU. Shortly after, in December, I became the VP of Marketing. Within this role, I managed and looked over the work of 7 different directors under me and held weekly meetings with all of them, while communicating to my president and advisor above me. I managed an instagram account with over 30,000 followers (@asualphaphi), along with a Tik Tok as well. On top of this, I assisted in merchandising design and worked with multiple clothing brands such as Hang Loose Hut and Ali & Ariel. Lastly, I attended the National Alpha Phi Western Chapter Conference In Los Angelos and engaged in marketing and fashion workshops alongside other chapter VP of Marketings.
Fashion: Over the course of the past few years I have gotten really into thrift flipping and upcycling clothes. I have taught myself to sew and hand embellish garments. Read more about this and see photos in the "projects" section.
Marketing: I am currently a contract worker for The Black Sheep marketing agency where I work with a variety of brands/ companies to promote apps, products, etc. by doing marketing events around the Arizona State campus.
Throughout the pandemic, I was really focused on getting into better shape and improving my health and I knew some of my friends were too. I created a Snapchat story where I began to document and market everything I was doing. This was including workouts, recipes, vitamins, and even just small pieces of advice, but my presentation of each was always aesthetic and inspiring. Through this I gained such a designated audience to where I actually had friends reaching out to me for advice and ideas for meals. This showed me my true potential within marketing early on and I learned how much I truly enjoy it.
Ever since I got into fashion, I fell in love with thrifting. I loved the idea of finding cool and unique pieces that not everyone was buying. Soon after this, I started creating visions in my head of pieces I wanted to own, but could not find in retail nor while thrifting. This is when I discovered my potential in thrift flipping, where I buy garments second hand for the fabric, design, embellishments, or another aspect of the clothing, and then turn them into a different piece. Upcycling is a super sustainable fashion option where you not only buy second hand and support thrift stores, but also are able to use your own creativity and potential into creating one of a kind pieces.
